fe2026.mahacet.org is the official CAP registration portal for First Year Engineering (BE/BTech) admissions 2026. Registration is open till 12 July 2026, 5 PM, and document verification till 13 July, 5 PM. As the deadline approaches, thousands of students hit the portal at once — and errors start. Here's the fix for every common problem.
Portal Not Opening / Website Down?
- Check the URL — it's fe2026.mahacet.org, not fe2026.mahacet.com or mahacet.org/fe2026. Bookmark the correct one.
- Peak hours problem — the portal is slowest between 11 AM–2 PM and 8–11 PM. Try early morning (6–9 AM); it's consistently fastest.
- Switch network — if it doesn't load on Jio, try Airtel/WiFi or vice versa. DNS issues are common on some networks; you can also set DNS to 8.8.8.8.
- Use desktop mode or a laptop — the portal is not fully mobile-optimized. Chrome desktop mode fixes many button/menu issues.
- Clear cache/cookies or open in Incognito — old session data causes blank pages and endless loading.

“Invalid Application Number / Roll Number” Error
- New registration on FE2026 needs your MHT-CET 2026 application number + roll number (JEE-only candidates use their JEE Main credentials).
- Enter the application number exactly as on your MHT-CET admit card — no spaces, correct prefix.
- Roll number is on your admit card, not your scorecard rank.
- PCB candidates: make sure you're on the right portal — FE2026 is for Engineering (PCM group). Pharmacy has a separate portal.
- Copy-paste from a PDF sometimes adds hidden spaces — type it manually.
OTP Not Received
- Wait a full 2–3 minutes before hitting resend; multiple rapid requests block the queue.
- Check SMS spam/blocked list; DND-active numbers sometimes delay OTPs.
- Email OTP goes to spam folder often — check there.
- If your registered mobile number is unreachable/changed, contact the CET Cell helpline immediately — don't create a duplicate registration.
Forgot Password / Account Locked
- Use “Forgot Password” on the login page — reset link/OTP goes to your registered mobile/email.
- Multiple wrong attempts can temporarily lock the account; wait 30 minutes and retry.
- Never share your login with cyber cafes without changing the password after — your preference list can be tampered with.
Document Upload Failing
- Use JPG/PDF within the size limit shown on the field (usually 50KB–500KB depending on document).
- Scan with a scanner app (Adobe Scan / Google Drive scan) — not a dark-room photo.
- Rename files simply (e.g., caste_certificate.pdf) — special characters in filenames cause silent failures.
- If upload stalls at 99%, it's session timeout — refresh, login again, upload one document at a time.
- Blurry uploads are the #1 reason E-Scrutiny applications get returned. Upload clean scans once instead of fighting corrections later.
Payment Failed / Money Deducted But Not Confirmed
- Wait 24 hours — failed transactions usually auto-reverse and the portal updates.
- Don't pay twice immediately; check “Payment Status” in your login first.
- If money is deducted and status still shows unpaid after 24 hours, raise it with the helpline with your transaction ID.
- UPI works more reliably than net banking on this portal during peak load.
Session Timeout / Form Data Lost
- The portal logs you out after inactivity, and unsaved sections vanish.
- Fill section by section and hit Save after each.
- Keep all details (marks, addresses, category info) ready in a note before you start — the full form takes 20–30 minutes.
